Complete Mix vs. Pure Meat

If you're new to RawFedK9, one of the first questions you'll probably have is, "What's the difference between Complete Mix and Pure Meat?"

At first glance, they can look very similar. Both are made with high-quality raw ingredients, both are minimally processed, and both are frozen for freshness. The difference isn't in the quality; it's in how each product is intended to be used.

Understanding the role of each option can help you choose the one that best fits your feeding routine, whether you're just getting started with raw feeding or you've been feeding raw for years.

What Is Complete Mix?

Complete Mix is our prey model raw formula built around a simple structure of muscle meat, bone, and organ.

Every Complete Mix recipe follows an 80/10/10 prey model raw ratio:

  • 80% muscle meat
  • 10% bone
  • 10% organ

We don't add fruits, vegetables, or grains to our Complete Mix recipes. Instead, we keep the focus on the same core ingredients found throughout our prey model raw lineup.

Complete Mix is the product most customers choose for everyday feeding because it provides a consistent prey model raw structure in convenient, ready-to-feed portions.

What Is Pure Meat?

Pure Meat is exactly what the name suggests, ground muscle meat with no bone or organ included.

Many customers use Pure Meat as part of their feeding routine when they want additional flexibility. Because it contains only muscle meat, owners can decide how and when they want to incorporate it into their dog's meals.

One of the most common times you'll see Pure Meat used is during the early stages of transitioning to raw feeding. That's why our Transition Packs include both Pure Meat and Complete Mix, allowing owners to gradually introduce the different components of a prey model raw diet over a 16-day transition schedule.

Some experienced raw feeders also enjoy having Pure Meat available in the freezer to use alongside their regular Complete Mix products depending on their individual feeding routine.

Which One Should You Choose?

For many new customers, Complete Mix is the easiest place to start.

Because the muscle meat, bone, and organ are already portioned together, there's very little preparation required. Simply thaw the amount you need and feed according to your dog's daily feeding amount.

Pure Meat serves a different purpose. Rather than replacing Complete Mix, it's another option that gives owners more flexibility within their routine.

Some households feed Complete Mix exclusively. Others keep both products on hand and use them differently depending on the day or their individual feeding goals.

Neither approach is right or wrong. It simply depends on what works best for your dog and your routine.

The Transition Pack Brings Both Together

If you're switching from kibble to raw, deciding where to begin can feel like the biggest hurdle.

That's exactly why we created our Transition Pack.

The Transition Pack combines both Pure Meat and Complete Mix to help simplify those first couple of weeks. Rather than trying to build a transition plan yourself, the products are already designed to work together through the recommended transition schedule.

Many new customers appreciate having a clear starting point before expanding into additional proteins and product formats.
