How To Transition to Dog Food – Raw Dog Food Feeding Guide
Get Started Switching to Raw Dog Food
Please review our raw feeding transitioning guides for dogs below. These are our recommended guides for how to transition to raw dog food from kibble and other raw dog food to ensure the best and most successful transition for your dog!
How To Transition Dog Food From Kibble
Do not immediately start with feeding the 80/10/10 Complete Mix. We need to make sure we don't upset your dog's stomach as it is very nutrient dense, and the dog's PH level will need to adjust to the much more nutrient, raw diet.
Preparing for the transition:
- Calculate how much your dog will require each day. Find our Raw Feeding Calculator below.
- When ordering, start with our Transition Pack, we recommend starting with lean meat such as chicken for both your Pure Meat and Complete Mix options. Select your case size based on the amount of Pure Meat that your dog will need to make it through the first 16 days of their transition period.
What to expect:
- When switching to raw dog food, you can expect that your dog will experience loose stools. These will begin to firm back up once the Complete Mix patties are introduced.
- Each dog is different and may require a slower transition period. Read our FAQ / Help Center page to learn more about what you can expect when transitioning your dog to their new diet.
Day 1 - 5
Once your transition pack arrives, immediately stop feeding kibble and begin feeding your Pure Meat patties.
Day 6 - 9
If your dog has gone without issues, start introducing your Complete Mix patties by feeding 50% Pure Meat patties and 50% Complete Mix patties each meal.
Day 10 - 15
If your dog has gone without issues, begin feeding your Complete Mix patties for each meal.
Day 16
Begin to introduce new proteins to your dog's diet.
